One byline shows up across this site's guides. Here's her background.

Jessica Martinez
Contributing Writer, Business & Finance
Jessica Martinez

Jessica writes the guides and calculator explainers on this site: how future value is derived, what a DRIP actually reinvests, why a CD's stated APY differs from its rate. Before writing about money she spent several years as a credit analyst, reading loan and account files for a living, and that habit of checking a number against its source instead of taking it on faith carried straight into how she reports now. Every formula she writes up gets checked against a primary source, usually a regulator's own definition, before it publishes.

What she covers here

Across the calculators on this site, Jessica's beat is the explanatory layer: the "how is this calculated" sections, the FAQ answers, and reference pieces like the 2026 Compound Growth Reference. She does not set which calculators get built or review the underlying code; that side of the site is described on the editorial standards page.

Elsewhere in the Encore network

Jessica also writes on a handful of other sites under Encore Editorial, generally covering consumer finance and lending topics adjacent to what appears here. Her focus on this site stays specific to investing math: growth projections, dividend income, and retirement planning tools.
